hummm....endurance....to be honest, it is just not one of my favorite words.
It just has always sounded like a very heavy load, that is just too much of a burden to carry.
(it is...we must keep giving it to God)
(it is...we must keep giving it to God)
Each morning, as I sit out on my little humble breakfast patio (the one with all our broken driveway pieces)...
I am so in awe of these beautiful calla lilies that always look so elegant and strong.
They have endured!
We had just loaded the very last load at my sweet Mom's home...she had passed away 2 months earlier and now her house had sold and we were ready to pull out of the driveway. We were all in the car, when I wearily asked where our daughter Michelle was...oh, I was told she had a bucket and was digging something up in Grandma's backyard.
Well, here she came running as fast as she could while carrying a large metal bucket full of Mom's beautiful Calla Lilies.
She exclaimed we just couldn't leave... without bringing some of
Grandma Bee's Calla Lilies.
OH.MY.YES.
After making sure we were not leaving a huge hole in the backyard, thanking and thanking her and wiping many tears of gratefulness that she would think to do this, and feeling so badly that I had not...
down the road we went with these beautiful Calla Lilies.
And then down the road again...10 years later.
And then down the road again (a shorter road though)...5 years later.
Endurance...
they have had to "endure" many "plantings"!
I am trying to learn to let God write my story (endure)...knowing He does write the best stories...
and... I am not to the next chapter yet :)
So many that I know, are in an "endurance" chapter...

Some seasons of our life for sure take a lot of endurance.
In a few days it would have been my Mom's 93rd Birthday...
so I wanted to share her beautiful Calla Lilies...
she was a lady of great endurance!
I read this little quote a while back...
Mom would like this.
"The real things
haven't changed.
It is still
best to be honest
and truthful;
to make the most
of what we have;
to be happy
with
simple
pleasures;
and have
courage
(endurance)
when
things
go
wrong."
Laura Ingalls Wilder
May we all be blessed to endure...in whatever part of the story God is writing in our lives...
and of course we have that sweet promise that when things seem to go "wrong"...He will work all things out for our good...and for His Glory.
