I seem to never lack for a "good read"!!!
I usually have more than one book going at a time...and always love seeing what is waiting on the "pile"!!
Soooo....I thought I would share with you what I have just finished, what good books are in progress and what is waiting patiently on the pile...or maybe I should say piles! :)
I just finished Simply Tuesday and Loved it!!
I love, love this author!
Emily Freeman is so authentic in her walk of faith!
This is her newest book, and it was just released in August.
She wrote on ..."Small Moment Living in a Fast~Moving World".
Her words were full of encouragement to take the slow lane!!
She is in a very busy season of her life right now,
but still looks for the slow and the small,
the non~hurry, in every day as much as possible.
I must share a few inspiring quotes for us to be fine with the
slow and the small in our lives...
"Small is the position of my soul, the posture by which I approach others, God, and myself. When I'm small, I know I can't control opinions, manipulate outcomes, or force my agenda on others. "
"It isn't that I don't believe the small things are important; it's more that I forget to care about how important they really are."
"True smallness is an invitation to live as I was meant to live,
to accept my humanity, and to offer my ability and my inability, my sin and my success,
my messes and my masterpieces into the hands of God"
"When I celebrate my smallness and receive the gift of obscurity, I am free.
I have hope.
I can give generously.
I can be who I am rather than either who you think I am or who I want you to think I am."
"Today, the banquet table is laid out for me in my soul. And it looks like meetings, deadlines, and a few household chores on the outside, but on the inside I know that my Father is very fond of me, that He has plans I know nothing about, and this is the day He has made. He invites me to come and sit at His table and pull up a chair made for small legs. He invites me to surrender myself to His agenda and trust that He intends good things"
"Walking by faith means being willing not to know,
never to know why or how things happen the way they do,
and to be willing to release my tight hold on the big finish I thought would come"
Such lovely words...balm for my soul!
My husband read Dead Wake by Erik Larson in just a couple of days,
and so enjoyed it that he insisted it should go on my pile at once!
And so it did...and I hope to start it tomorrow!
You can spot my pink Kindle on the pile
because I have sooo been enjoying some wonderful British mysteries by Wilke Collins!!
Excellent!!!
You must start with A Woman In White, if you have not read any of his yet. And then of course there is Moonstone,
and then I just finished two more....
The Dead Secret and Jezebel's Daughter.
Both were wonderful.
He has an amazing way with weaving quite the plots...
all clean, and often times great descriptions of the English countryside!
Delightful mysteries for sure!!
And most of them are Public Domain, so they are a free download! :)
I am very much looking forward to Anything...
a story of a courageous prayer of abandonment to God
And then my sweet daughter Lindsay, gave me the huge read of Sarum!!
The novel of England!
That will be a great winter read for sure!
And last but not least a delightful little read of
The Awakening of Miss Prim!
Would love to hear what you are reading!! :)
Do share!!
You just can't beat a "good read"!!
