I was blessed to finish a delightful and wonderful good book, just a few days before Thanksgiving...
and it sure put me in the Hospitality mood!!
It was such a lovely reminder to gather loved ones and friends around your table!
Bread and Wine by Shauna Niequist
is filled with encouragement and simplicity...
add lots of love and a good soup recipe, or any of the many others she suggests, and you will be a blessing to many lives that come to gather around your table.
She totally removes the fuss and the perfectionism...which is such a great reminder for me!! :)
"The table is where time stops.
It's where we look people in the eye,
where we tell the truth about how hard it is,
where we make space to listen to the whole story,
not the textable sound bite."
"On the topic of the actual table...
you may imagine I'm all table-scape-y,
but I'm decidedly not.
For me, it's about the gathering,
not the table settings, and I find that people feel a little uptight when the table looks like a woodland village or something."

"It's about what works for your guests, your family,
the people you love and have welcomed around your table.
It's not about what will look great on Pinterest or Instagram later.
It's about loving the people in your life by gathering them close into the private space of your home, about giving them soft places to land in hard seasons,
about meeting their needs for food,
for listening,
for peace, and for rest."

And to add to all of this beauty of gathering around the table...
I must share a wonderful new "experiment" that I tried for Thanksgiving this year, to try and simplify the cooking on Thanksgiving Day....
I baked my turkey the day before!! :)
It turned out marvelous on Thanksgiving Day!!
I was a little hesitant that it might be too dry, but my sweet friend Cindy, suggested re-heating with broth and it turned out delish!!!
I am sure I had more energy for those grands that day!!! :)
