Loving January....

Loving January...

A love for January
has not always been true for me!

Even though it is the month of our anniversary( 44 years coming up :), I have found myself always just trying to get thru the month...February is coming with Valentines, and then after that March seems to be getting mighty close to SPRING!!

And all those bulbs peeking up! :)

But a few years ago,
a friend mentioned how she loved the winter days of January,
 with the longer evenings.
Those longer evenings gave her permission to curl up with her good books,
or spend many winter evenings playing games with family!

 I LOVED THAT!!

It brought a new meaning to January for me!

So bring on all those good books that are waiting in my huge three stacks!! Wowsers! I have never had so many good books waiting...but the month in not even half over, so the reading is just begun!

One little detail that makes the winter days even more doable, is putting a little bit of spring around the house with some silk flowers that I have gathered thru the years.

 Very cheap entertainment!

The little silk pansies, I found one year for $3 a pot!
I purchased all that they had...3,
and so wish there had been more, that I could have gifted others with.
They are so real looking, and bless me everyday! :)

The lovely paperwhites might have been from a sweet shop of our friends...I can't remember for sure, but have enjoyed them for at least 13 years.
I just hose them off in the summer...and they are good to go again! :)

The little blue bells are from a delightful shop in downtown, Albany...Emma Downtown...a few years ago for $8 dollars...but so worth it...I found one more on clearance for $3.

Great little bits of lovely spring hope!!

Behind the bluebells is a nest with some robin eggs sitting in it, for sure they are  from my friend's amazing shop,
 Poet's Garden.
It was magical to go there, and they even let me work there some days!:)
I love all my lovely memories of shopping there, and helping out!

Spring is coming...
but in the meantime I am going to love the journey of traveling thru some wonderful books!

For today,  I am enjoying a wonderful book on the life of C.S. Lewis...
A Life Observed,
 by Devin Brown...
an excellent read!

I hope you can find yourself
curled up with a great book also,
on these cold and longer winter evenings!

It is a fabulous
way to wait for Spring! :)
